An advocacy group, Save Female Football in Nigeria (SSFN), has postponed indefinitely its planned today’s 1200-woman protest march to Nigeria Football Federation secretariat in demand for better management of women football in the country.
The Coordinator of the group, Moses Bako told journalists in Abuja, that the intended protest has been put on hold due to the unsettled crisis rocking the NFF for over five months.
Bako commended the Nigeria Women League Board led by Mrs. Dilichuckwu Onyedinma, but insists his group has lost faith in her ability to take the game forward in Nigeria and however demands change.
“We have nothing against anybody. We only want the best of organisation for the Nigeria women league board the current leadership failed to meet their promises given at the congress,” Bako said.
“In view of that, we want answers from the Federation on the poor management and what plans they have to improve women football. Dilichukwu must go, she has tried. We will hold our protest as soon as the crisis is over,” he declared.
On the Canada 2015 Women’s World Cup draws, the Kogi born football administrator said the Super Falcons will progress out of the so-called ‘group of death’ only if the team gets early and quality preparation and arrangement of grade A friendly games.
The chairman of Confluence Queens Supporters Club further urged the technical crew and technical department of the NFF to invites talented players that will add quality to the team.
“I don’t have any doubt. Nigeria will progress from the group. We only need the best of preparation and grade A friendly games with the same teams as big as their group opponents.
“The NFF and coach Okon should without bias invite quality players that have what it takes to represent the country well at the World Cup. With that we will go far,” he concluded.
