Group task stakeholders on Girl child empowerment

The Founder of Lassie Foundation, Pamela Ozigbu

has charged all stakeholders, individuals, and organizations on the need to build the capacity of girl child through sustainable empowerment and skills.

 

She made this known while addressing pressmen during a reach out programme at the Internal Displaced people, in FCT , Abuja.

 

The founder explained that that there is need for well meaning Nigerians to partner on girl child human capacity development , noting that all issues can’t be left for government to handle .

 

 

“While doing this, we can’t wait for the government’s, I would not just talk to the government, I will talk to individual organizations and other people. You’re watching this or you’re hearing this today, we have to come out and start doing something. We need to come out and start building on capacity.

 

“First of all, given the capacity that we’ll need, so that we can be able to inspire and help build others so that tomorrow we can have a future where every day is included in the process on the one hand, man society. No one is left and no one is left behind,” she said.

She explained that Lassie Foundation is aimed towards girl child empowerment, women, children and also reaching out to people that are vulnerable and

 

She lamented that the high rate of children, including girls and young adults on the street into prostitution and other indecent acts.

 

She stated that the foundation has adequate plans to drastically reduce the number of girls on the streets .

 

“At lassie foundation one of our core, one of our core projects for this year, is to reduce the number of the girls on the streets. That’s why we wanted to do and by doing this, we’ll be able to empower them.

 

“To take off skills to take off to find out and include that in whatever we’re doing. We decided to to do. And if we look into our judiciary, we’ll find out that even in the lawmaking in amongst the lawmakers we find out that female representative is very low.

Yeah, it’s not even up to 20%.

 

 

Also, the founder of Star Crest for Women in Africa Foundation, Barrister Esther Omenka noted women are always marginalized in Africa, having the mentality that it’s a man’s world .

 

She expressed worries that women are not been given enough opportunities and privileges.

 

 

“My NGO is about the empowerment so for underprivileged women or children across the African continent, and we can’t do that without including girl child in our scope.

 

 

“We all know that in Africa, the mentality is that it’s a man’s world. Women are marginalized. We’re not given opportunities enough. We are often, you know, downcast. So my foundation is all about empowering the African woman.

 

“We don’t believe that you must go to school to be empowered as an African man to believe that you can be empowered if you have something to do and something fruitful to do. That’s how we organize periodic trade news. We sensitize the market remain on right on how to you know be empowered on how to get something you’re doing behind the we emphasize on hand work.

“Yes, we have organized several Back to School programs for the underprivileged African child because we believe that every child, every African child deserves to go to school and have basic universal education,” she noted.

 

She enjoined the federal government to encourage more enrollment of children especially the girl child in basic education

 

“They should encourage your children in Africa especially the north we see that on the aid girls are given out in marriage. They’re asked to hawk their to do several things that have you know, they’ll make them not even have other empowerment skills.
