As part of measures to ensure improved qualitative teaching and learning in public secondary schools across Ogun state, the State Teaching Service Commission is planning to recruit no fewer than 1000 teaching and 200 non-teaching staff respectively in 2015 fiscal year.
The Commission’s Full-Time Commissioner 1, Timothy Adebowale, made this known in Abeokuta while defending the year 2015 budget estimate before[M1] [M2] the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation at the State House of Assembly.
He said the Commission would ensure even distribution of teachers across the four divisions of the state as well as prompt payment of salaries and allowances which represent about 90% of the Commission’s budget.
Adebowale assured that the Commission was poised to maintain discipline among teachers through a periodic monitoring of teachers in their various schools, adding that the agency would also ensure a cordial working relationship with teachers.
Oh his part, the state Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Segun Odubela, said his Ministry has earmarked a total sum of N600 million for the renovation of additional 300 public schools across the state in the coming year.
Odubela said the renovation was in addition to 100 public schools earlier renovated by the administration at its inception.
He said the year 2015 estimates had been structured in such a way that would facilitate prompt and quality Service delivery and to facilitate the ‘Mission to Rebuild’ agenda of the state government.
