The Southern Kaduna Trailblazing Women Association (SOKATWA) is calling on women in Southern Kaduna to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration and make their voices heard in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement to the press, SOKATWA President Mrs. Belinda Augustine Istifanus emphasized the importance of women’s participation in the electoral process, saying, “A woman’s vote is her power and a vital tool in shaping the future of society.”
She urged women who registered in urban areas to transfer their voting locations back to their respective communities in Southern Kaduna to strengthen the region’s voting power.
The association also encouraged women to run for elective positions and assured its support and mobilization for women candidates willing to serve.
“We want more women to step forward and contest elective positions,” Mrs. Istifanus said. “We are ready to support and mobilize for them.” SOKATWA Secretary, Mrs. Grace John Zomo, reiterated the importance of active participation in democracy and urged women to join political parties and become engaged in political processes to make their voices heard.
