Gunmen kidnap popular businessman in Benue

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped a popular business man in Benue State, Chief Isaac Akinkumi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Tito Group of Companies.
It was gathered that Chief Akinkumi was kidnapped at about 1.30 am at his private residence located around new GRA Makurdi, the state capital.
A family source who did not want his name mentioned in print told our correspondent that the abductors numbering four (4) jumped through the fence and broke into the living room, then went straight to the victim’s bedroom and abducted him.
He explained that the gunmen started shooting sporadically in and around the premises until the victim was taken away to an unknown destination at about 1.30pm.
“These people came through the fence and forcefully opened the main entrance door to the living room. They went straight to my boss’s bed, dragged him out and forced him into his Mercedes Benz SUV before taking him away. They did not touch any other person in the house. Later this morning, his vehicle was abandoned near Lower Benue Basin Development Authority along Makurdi- Aliade – Otukpo”, the source said.
When our correspondent visited the victim’s office, members of his staff were seen on their various duty posts performing their normal duties.
Although few of them refused to comment on the incident when our correspondent tried to approach them to get their reaction.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Chief Isaac Akinkumi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tito Group of companies by unknown gunmen.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene who confirmed the development in a statement said the victim was abducted in his private residence at about 1:30am.
DSP Anene did not give much detail about the kidnap of the Benue Yoruba leader but simply said, “The kidnap of Mr. Isaac Akinwumi is confirmed and investigation is still in progress.
“Today 24/7/2020 at about 0130hrs, Mr. Isaac Akinkumi, was kidnapped in his house at Kanshio, Makurdi.
“Information was gathered that the four-man armed gang scaled through a fence into his compound, forced his door open and took him to an unknown destination. Investigation is in progress”, she stated.
