Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have attacked villages along the Kaduna – sarki Pawa road in Munya local government of Niger state and reportedly killed three persons and kidnapped 10 others.
It was reliably gathered that the suspected kidnappers who were dislodged from the Abuja – Kaduna road had shifted base to Munya area of Niger state and have attacked about 15 villages situated along the Sarki Pawa – Kaduna road.
Findings revealed that the villages of Fwapai, Tsoho Kabulo, Shehudna, Bakin Nyanyi, Mudungo, Rigogo, Bakin Dako and Sabo Gida all in Kabila ward of Munya local government have been sacked and occupied by the kidnappers in the recent past two weeks.
The Senator representing the Niger East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, David Umaru while reacting to the incident which occurred over the weekend called on the police and other security agencies to come to the aide of the affected villagers.
The lawmaker who confirmed to journalists in Minna yesterday said “I have received several calls from villagers in Munya local government about the activities of kidnappers operating without challenge from security agencies. I am informed that about three persons have been killed while 10 other persons have been kidnapped on Friday and Saturday.
He said that the kidnappers have relocated from the Kaduna – Abuja road to Munya – Kabila ward wrecking havoc on the fleeing villagers.
Senator Umaru, however, described the attack on the villagers as unfortunate and urged the state government to act immediately in protecting the lives and property of the villagers.
