Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board has concluded preparations for the inaugural airlift of intending pilgrims from the state for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The Director of Operations of the board, Mallam Attahiru Bala Dukku, disclosed this in an interview with journalists at the Hajj Camp, stating that the board is fully prepared to begin the transportation of pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He explained that unlike in previous years, the Saudi Arabian government has introduced new changes and protocols for pilgrims, which must be strictly observed by all intending pilgrims.
Similarly, the Chairman of the board, Sheikh Muhammad Rabiu Beji, advised prospective pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj to begin preparations early, noting that Saudi authorities have now adjusted their plans by closing visa issuance at least three months before the Hajj exercise.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Joint First Aid Group in Niger State, Muhammad Abdullahi Yawa Suleja, said their major responsibility at both the camp and the airport is to ensure the welfare of pilgrims and ensure compliance with all travel regulations.
One of the intending pilgrims from Chanchaga Local Government Area, Garba Umar Usalle, commended the Niger State Government, especially the Pilgrims Welfare Board, for the improved welfare arrangements, describing it as a significant improvement compared to previous years.
The first flight, scheduled to depart from the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport by 8:00 o’clock, is expected to transport 345 pilgrims out of the total 2,281 intending pilgrims from Niger State.
