Hajj: Board declares FCT Transit Camp ready for intending pilgrims

As part of preparations for this year’s Hajj exercise, in Saudi Arabia, the Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (FCT-MPWB) has declared readiness to host intending pilgrims from the zone, as it has concluded necessary arrangements to do so.
This assurance was given by FCT-MPWB’s Director, Malam Muhammad Bashir, at a meeting with stakeholders and officials of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) as well as the states of Nasarawa, Kogi and Benue.
Malam Bashir stressed that the board has already mapped out strategies to ensure the security of all intending pilgrims at the permanent hajj camp during their camping exercise.
He emphasized that the board would take the welfare of the intending pilgrims with paramount importance and ensures that the camp maintains good hygiene by keeping the premises clean at all times.
He assured the commitment of the Administration to provide necessary support for the operation and warned that only intending pilgrims with valid Identification Card shall have access to the camp while visitors who have no business with the camp should to stay away from it to ensure hitch free camping exercise.
Calling for the cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure a hitch free exercise, the Director reaffirmed the readiness of the Administration to improve from its last year’s experience to record more successes in 2018 hajj operation, However, the stakeholders at the meeting expressed their readiness for the commencement of airlift of intending pilgrims from the zone to Saudi Arabia.
Recall that about 1500 intending pilgrims from the FCT are expected to perform the hajj through the Board this year. The NAHCON has fixed this Saturday for the inaugural flight with intending pilgrims from Kogi state.
Also, intending Pilgrims from Nasarawa, Kogi and Benue states are expected to be camped at the FCT permanent hajj transit camp on their way to Saudi Arabia from tomorrow (Friday).
