The first batch of 502 intending pilgrims from Kano State yesterday, departed for this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia on board a Max Air Boeing 747 aircraft.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the flight took off from the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport at about 4:25 a.m.
Addressing the intending pilgrims shortly before their departure to the Holy land, the state Deputy Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, urged them to be disciplined.
He charged them to be good ambassadors of the state and the country at large.
Ganduje, who also urged the intending pilgrims to exhibit high moral conduct, called on them to pray for the sustenance of peace in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the batch of intending pilgrims were from Ajingi, Albasu, Gaya, Takai, Warawa and Wudil local government areas of the state.
A total of 5, 708 pilgrims from the state are expected to perform this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia. (NAN).
