The wife of Niger state Governor, Hajiya Jummai Aliyu has called on policy-makers to make use of the 2013 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) report in designing programmes towards improving health and family planning services of the nation.
Mrs. Aliyu stated this yesterday in Minna, when she kicked-off the dissemination of the NDHS report in Niger state.
She described the report as vital ingredient in planning for a healthy nation, adding that there was the need for Nigerians to take advantage of the report
Hajiya Jummai, who was represented by Mrs. Elisabeth Shaba said that her Life Rehab project had impacted positively on the lives of women and children in the state leading to reduction in infant and maternal mortality rates in the country as contained in the report.
She commended the National Population Commission for the demographic health report saying it was a job well done.
In his remark, the Federal Commissioner of the Commission in Niger state, Barrister Aliyu Datti said that the 2013 NDHS was randomly conducted in 40,320 households across the nation.
“The 2013 NDHS report came up with invaluable indicators on the health and living standards of the Nigerians. To ensure that this data is useful for planning purposes, the commission plans to carry out intensive dissemination of the final report” he said.
