The outcome of the 2026 FCT Area Councils’ was victorious for chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in
kwali Area council, Hon. Nuhu Daniel, the chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Gwagwalada, Hon. Mohammed Kasim,
the chairmanship Candidate of APC in Abaji, Hon. Abdullahi Umar and
the chairmanship candidate of APC in kuje, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, respectively.
They elected as the chairman of their respective area councils held on Saturday.
While the PDP chairman – elect in Gwagwalada, Hon Muhammed Kasim polled 22,165 votes to defeat the APC chairmanship candidate , Hon. Usman Yahaya who has 17,788 votes while the APC chairman – elect in kuje Area Council , Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo topped 17,269 votes to defeat the PDP chairmanship candidate who has 15,824 votes.
Speaking to newsmen during the election, Hon. Nuhu Daniel commended the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the distribution of the electoral materials to the polling units on the time in the area.
While unveiling his manifesto three days to the election, Daniel said if elected, he would focus on the education and social development, Agriculture and food economy, primary healthcare and environmental services and rural infrastructure development.
Also speaking, after the announcement of the results on behalf of the chairman- elect in Gwagwalada, the chairman of PDP in Gwagwalada, Mr. Abdullahi Abuja said the Gwagwalada chairman-elect, Hon. Mohammed
Kasim would carry everybody along in the scheme of things.
Kasim pointed out that his administration would carry out people’s-oriented projects in Gwagwalada, and hailed the INEC for conducting of fair, free and credible election in the area.
On his part, the chairman- elect of Abaji area council, Hon Abdullahi
Umar who polled 15,535 votes to defeat YPP chairmanship candidate ,
Hon . Muhammed Angulu Loko who has 4547 votes, thanked God for winning the chairmanship election for the second term.
Not left out, the APC chairman – elect in kuje Area Council, Hon.
Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, pledged to run an inclusive government .
