Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has stressed the need for Hydro- electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), to be adequately funded to address the challenges before the commission.
The Traditional ruler stated this when he received the Governing Council of HYPPADEC at his palace in Bida, Niger State.
He said that the communities affected by construction of Hydroelectric Dams have a stockpile of ecological and socioeconomic challenges.
The royal father explained that they are waiting for the commission to address many years plight faced by the people, hence the need for both human and material resources to tackle such challenges.
He expressed confidence on the composition of the Commission’s Governing Council and urged them to work hard in justifying the confidence reposed on them, while assuring them of continued support of the traditional institutions.
