The National Coordinator of Odua People’s Congress (OPC) Comrade Gani Adams has declared that his coming to Ilorin, Kwara state capital after ten years should not be seen as a threat to peace and harmony in the state.
Adams who stated this at the weekend during the grand finale of Correspondent press week held at Kingston hotel, Ilorin said that any group or individual agitating for the interest of a tribe in the country should be seen as enemy of others.
The OPC boss, who said the Nigeria Police had declared his coming to the city as security threat in the past, commended the efforts of Correspondent Chapel’s for bringing eminent Nigerians to Ilorin to discuss the country’s issues.
He noted that during the June 12 struggle, it was journalists that came to their rescue, stressing that some journalists were jailed before democracy was restored.
He promised to always support peace and harmony of Kwara state and Nigeria at large.
In his remark, the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Alhaji Ma’sud Elelu commended the Correspondent chapel for honouring eminent Nigerians in their various field, stressing that without journalists, there can’t be accountability and transparency in Nigeria institutions.
