A Professor of Applied Mathematics, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai (IBBUL), Professor Bawa Musa has said that mathematics model is essential and it’s developed in order to achieve the ability to understand, predict and control the behavior of the modelled hence the need to build stronger data systems.
The mathematician made the disclosure at the 19th Inaugural Lecture Series 19; of the university in Lapai, with the topic; Mathematical Model as a Recipe for the Control of Infectious Diseases: Perceived Benefits Versus Unintended Consequences.
Professor Bawa Musa explained that mathematical model have connection with the real life which centered on an existing entity system either a natural phenomenon or man made refered to as a problem to be solve or question to answered.
He revealed that it’s a veritable tool can be used in enhancing healthy population for natural development in all the societal ramifications hence insufficiency of data of HIV/Aids, TB, Malaria, COVID-19 and recent Anthrax many researchers are unable to test the accuracy of their models just as the modification do not receive much attentions at local levels.
The Vice Chancellor, IBBUL, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu in his speech, applauded the university academia for various inaugural lectures thus far, while he challenged other professors to emulate him who is the first in the department.
