Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has warned opposition leaders Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi against campaigning in the South-West for the 2027 presidential election.
In a viral video released in March 2026, Igboho declared his total support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and threatened to frustrate any supporters of the opposition within the region.
The warning specifically named former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi.
In the viral video, Igboho stated, “If you know that you are crazy, campaign for one Atiku or Obi in Yorubaland,” and vowed to ensure no other presidential candidate is presented in the South-West.
He affirmed 100% support for Tinubu’s second term and even suggested the possibility of a third term beyond 2027.
Reports indicate that Igboho, once a prominent separatist agitator, has officially aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged to counter groups agitating for unrest.
The statement has sparked significant debate online, with some critics questioning the legality of his threats and the suggestion of a third term, which is currently prohibited by the Nigerian Constitution.
Atiku Abubakar had previously expressed his commitment to protecting the Yoruba community if elected, emphasizing his personal and family ties to the region.
