Celtic have moved to secure the future of Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho after offering the Nigerian international a new contract following weeks of uncertainty over his stay at the club.
According reports, Celtic manager Martin O’Neill confirmed that the Scottish Premiership champions have tabled a fresh offer for Iheanacho, who impressed during his debut campaign at Celtic Park.
The 28-year-old scored nine goals in 24 appearances across all competitions after joining the Hoops on a one-year deal in September 2025.
His performances convinced the club to pursue an extended stay, despite the expiration of the option to retain him for another season last month.
Negotiations are now ongoing between both parties as Celtic look to reach an agreement on a new contract.
Speaking to the Daily Record, O’Neill confirmed the club’s position.
“There’s an offer there to him [Iheanacho] at this minute. So we’ll see how that develops.”
An agreement would see Iheanacho continue his career with the Scottish champions after an encouraging first season in Glasgow.
