Why Nwabali returned to Chippa United

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali returned to South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Chippa United after failing to secure a move that matched his career ambitions.
According to an exclusive report by Owngoalnigeria, this was confirmed by his agent.
Nwabali’s return surprised many supporters, especially after he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Chippa United in February following his impressive performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
At the time, the 30-year-old opted to seek a new challenge away from the club.
His agent, however, explained that the decision to leave Chippa United was made with the full understanding and support of the club.
The goalkeeper was assured that he would always be welcomed back should his planned transfer not materialize.
The agent revealed that although Nwabali received several offers during the transfer window, most came from leagues considered below the standard of the South African PSL.
The only notable interest came from a newly promoted club in Saudi Arabia, but those discussions eventually stalled after initial contact.
With no suitable move available and Chippa United still willing to have him back, Nwabali decided to rejoin the club and resume his career in familiar surroundings, where he enjoys strong support from both the team and its fans.
