An aspirant in the Edo state governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Blessings Agbohmere, says he is pregnant with ideas on how to move the state forward through good governance and improved welfare for the people.
Agbomhere said this on Tuesday when he spoke with newsmen, after submitting his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja.
Agbohmere, a former member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party said he had the endorsement of Edo APC stakeholders for the election, adding that he had been assured that the Feb. 17 governorship primaries would be free and fair.
“Edo is one big family and with me as the party’s candidate, electoral victory is sure for the APC in the state. I’m pregnant with ideas of how to develop the state, I am the best candidate and best patriot in this race, I’m one person that has not benefitted from government.
“I have used my resources to positively impact on the lives of the people, this time, I want to use state resources to impact on the people,” he said.
The aspirant said he stands a better chance of winning the party’s ticket because he was the most qualified aspirant because he has served the party at various times and positions, even as said it is not a do or die affair for him.
“I will be ready to work with anyone that emerged as the party’s candidate from a free and fair primaries because am not desperate.
“Today am in Edo governorship race because I am pregnant with ideas to move the state forward by enthroning good governance and improved welfare for the people of the state.
“If I can use my personal money to positively impact on the lives of the people, I certainly would do much more, using state resources,” he said.
He promised to place priority on infrastructure development, good and accessible health care, improved security, agriculture and education among others.
It could be recalled that 12 aspirants had so far purchased the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the cost of N50million each for the Feb. 17 governorship primaries.
