The Jigawa state deputy governor and also the chairman technical working group of State conditional cash transfer for lactating mothers and pregnant women Alhaji Umar Namadi said, the major problem that caused delay in the commencement of the program to 5,000 pregnant women is the use of bank account.
Alhaji Namadi disclosed this while fielding question from news men in his office on what caused delay for the payment of selected 5,000 pregnant women for the program.
“Opening account is our major problem, as about1,200 beneficiaries have no valid identification card ( national or voters card) as well as about 400 beneficiaries have issues with their Bank Verification Number”.
He maintained that, majority of those that have a problem can’t even remember their valid bank verification number while some have no account at all.
According to him, the present administration in the state decided to commence the program to encourage attendance of anti-natal by pregnant women and to reduce maternal mortality in the state.
