Insecurity: CSO’s task Edo govt on security trust Fund

Members of Edo Civil organisations have charged Edo state government to initiate a process of establishing a security Trust Fund to stem violent crimes in the state.
This notice was contained in a statement by Coordinator-General Comrade Omobude Agho and the Secretary General of the rganizations yesterday to the state governor, Godwin Obaseki and the Speaker of the state house of Assembly in state Capital.
The Rights group, urged the state government to support and synergise with security agencies, especially the Police to fast-track the process.
It also urged the state to be “sincere in creating sustainable jobs and opportunities for its teeming youths to attain crime rate reduction in our state”.
The group futher said the rising cases of kidnappings, arm robbery and other criminal in the state, has adversely affected the commercial, economic and social life of the state.
In his response, the Speaker of the state house of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, said the state government has perfected plan to rejig the state security architecture with a view to stamp-out crimes in the state.
“The issue of security is not something that you deluge. I can’t tell you something the state is doing now; relax…I assure you that very soon, kidnappers will meet their waterloo, while arm robbers will be send to their grave.
“Inforation is very critical, these arm robbers are not spirit, they love among us. So, help the government by providing the necessary information to rid the state of crime”, he said.
