Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Hurdi has announced that the state security council has approved the restriction of movements of motorcycles and tricycles from 9:00pm to 6:00 am in all parts of the state.

Briefing newsmen on the new security measures in the state, Hurdi stressed that following the new security threats posed by the activities of armed robbers, cattle rustlers and Kauraye thugs, the

state found it necessary to take steps to check the trend.

Hurdi similarly warned that the security agencies in the state would not spare any person caught violating the new restriction order, disclosing that the restriction applied to both commercial and private motorcycle owners.

The commissioner also disclosed that the security agencies in the state would intensify a stop-and-search operation at both national and international entry points to the state.

He added “entry points from other states like Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa and Zamfara states would be manned by our security personnel for the stop-and-search operations. Our international border with Niger Republic would also witness similar activities”.

Hurdi therefore appealed for understanding by law abiding citizens in the state, stressing that the measure was not meant to inconvenience anyone as according to him, it was taken to safeguard lives and property in the state.
