Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has assured the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) of continued synergy to rid the state of crimes and other social vices.
The Chairman of the State Council of NUJ, Comrade Abu Nmodu gave the assurance during a courtesy visit paid on the Council by the State Commandant, Willie Elijah Etim at the IBB Pen House in Minna.
Nmodu explained that Journalists under the umbrella of the Union are professionals practicing in accordance with the ethical codes of journalism stressing that members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm in the State have a long history of responsible journalism.
He revealed that, no fewer than 80 Journalists in the State have improved their skills from the Council’s Training and Retraining initiative within and outside the State in order to keep abreast with the dynamism of journalism.
In his remarks, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Comdt. Willie Elijah Etim said the aim of the visit was to seek for improved collaboration between the two organisations especially in the area of publicity and media coverage.
He added that the Command have a robust Crisis Management Directorate that strives through synergy with other agencies to Safeguard lives and properties in the State.
