Insecurity: Zamfara Police accuses LG chairs of nonchalance

Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Nagogo has accused local government chairmen in the state of paying poor attention to issues pertaining to security in the state.
CP Nagogo, who made the accusation during a town hall meeting at Shinkafi Emir’s palace yesterday, which was organized by the State Police Command with a view to fact finding the root cause of recent attack by bandits in Shinkafi Local Government Area.
The commissioner further cried that, an intelligence report compiled by his command has formidably showed that, some unpatriotic citizens were using their powers to see the achieved relative peace by the present administration is back-pulled at all cost in the state.
He warned that, the Police would not take it lightly and will embark on every constitutional powers conferred on it against any attempt by individual or group of people whose aims were to sponsor the remobilization of repentant bandits into the acts of terrorising legitimate livings in the state.
Denying Police claim, the Chairman Shinkafi Farmers Association (SFA), Malam Kabiru Mainasara disputed that, there was nobody behind demonstration staged by the farmers in Shinkafi local government area last Sunday.
Insisting that, “We were not mobilized by anybody to stage a demonstration but, we were spurred by the incessant destructions of our about-to-harvest crops in our farms by the Fulani herders.
“They used to drove their cattle to destroyed and ate up all the useful grown up there in our farmlands, and nobody could stop them, that had become topic of the day.
“Even if we talked to their leaders, they only asked us to give them the phone and after brief talks, the herders would leave but, they still come back in the night and destroy everything”, Mainasara has cried.
Also speaking, the state leader of the repentant bandits, Muhammad Bello, has assured that the incident will not repeat as he personally warned the warring Fulani herders in the area to avoid invading farmlands.
He suggested that, “ When there is any misunderstanding between Farmers and herders, the affected people should not go for resolution in large number but, two or three delegates is enough as the number is not all that big to throw the repentant bandits into wildness looking “.
