National Cooperative Insurance Society of Nigeria Ltd has unveiled its Online Insurance Verification Platform in Abuja.
Addressing Newsmen during the Organization’s National Stakeholders Briefing in Abuja, the Chief Executive Officer of the organization Mr Howell Ubani said they resolved to open a verification online platform to further give credence to their policy and other services they render to the public, mostly the rural and semi-urban based people.
He also said that the unveiling of their online insurance verification platform became increasingly necessary because of the incessant harassments of their members on the roads by Enforcement and Operational officials of some government agencies, adding that with the unveiling of their online verification platform,, the public can now access the validity of their policy any time, any place.
He further said that the National Cooperative Insurance Society of Nigeria Ltd is the apex cooperative insurance body that exercises supervisory roles over every other cooperative insurance in the country.
Also speaking at the occasion, a director from Abjua Cooperative Society Barr. Adetokunbo Adesanya informed the stakeholders that the activities and operations of National Cooperative Insurance Society Nig. Ltd is guided by Nigeria Cooperatives Society Act 2004,Cap 98 LFN, stressing that their operations are different from the activities of other insurance companies and therefore, their operations are fully backed by relevant laws guiding insurance practice in the country, as their primary mandate is to provide insurance services to cooperative societies, members and their various dependants.
The occasion also witnessed the launching of their Cooperative Societies Social Health Insurance (COOPSHI).
While introducing the package to the Stakeholders, Mr Ubani said that the NCIS has secured an approval from National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to provide Social Health Insurance to cooperative Societies and her members at a cheap and affordable rates, as it will stand as an additional cover against accidental injuries, disability and medical bills of enrollees involved in accidents.
According to him, “The twin benefits are to promote financial inclusion, deepen insurance awareness, acceptance and penetration”.
