Investigate Root Causes of Insecurity, Kano Accord Party Governorship Candidate Urges Tinubu

The Accord Party Governorship Candidate in Kano State, Amb. Muktar Gashash has urged President Bola Tinubu to investigate the root causes of banditry and terrorism in the country with a view to developing lasting solutions that address not only the symptoms but also the underlying causes.

In an open letter to the president, Gashash also advised Tinubu to significantly improve the welfare, salaries, allowances, insurance coverage, and overall working conditions of security personnel.

“I write as a concerned citizen deeply troubled by the worsening insecurity and banditry across our nation.

“The recent loss of a senior military officer in the hands of bandits has raised serious concerns about the state of security in our country. If those entrusted with protecting the nation can become victims of these criminals, ordinary Nigerians naturally fear for their own safety.

“Mr. President, this situation requires urgent and decisive action. Beyond providing modern equipment and strengthening intelligence gathering, I humbly appeal to your administration to significantly improve the welfare, salaries, allowances, insurance coverage, and overall working conditions of our security personnel.

“At the same time, I respectfully urge the government to establish a high-level committee to investigate the root causes of banditry and insecurity. Those involved in these criminal activities were not born bandits. It is important to understand the circumstances, grievances, failures, or influences that may have contributed to their actions and why they continue to inflict suffering on innocent citizens. Such an inquiry could help the nation develop lasting solutions that address not only the symptoms but also the underlying causes of insecurity.

“Our soldiers, police officers, and other security personnel risk their lives daily in defense of Nigeria. They deserve to feel valued, appreciated, and supported by the government and the people they serve. A well-motivated and well-cared-for security force is more committed, more effective, and more willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the nation.

“Many of these brave men and women operate under difficult conditions, separated from their families and exposed to constant danger. Improving their welfare is not merely an act of kindness; it is an investment in Nigeria’s security, stability, and future.

“As citizens, we also have a responsibility to uphold justice, reject corruption, support our security agencies, and return to the values of honesty, unity, and the fear of Allah. National security is a collective responsibility.

“Your Excellency, Nigerians are looking to your leadership at this critical moment. We trust that your administration will take bold and decisive steps to strengthen our security institutions, improve the welfare of security personnel, investigate the causes of banditry, and restore peace, confidence, and hope across the country.

“May Allah guide you, protect our security agents, grant comfort to the families of those who have lost their loved ones, bring strength and hope to those whose family members remain in the custody of bandits, secure the safe release of all hostages, and bless Nigeria with lasting peace, justice, and prosperity,” he stated in the open letter.
