Aides to Senator Shehu Umar Buba, Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, have strongly denied allegations of his involvement with bandits and incitement of violence.
Comrade Sabo Muhammad, Special Adviser on Media and Communications, described the allegations as “unsubstantiated” and part of a “sponsored campaign” aimed at tarnishing Senator Buba’s growing political influence.
The senator’s aides reject any claims of wrongdoing, labeling the allegations as “malicious” and lacking context regarding the situation in Bauchi State.
They highlight the absence of specific details—such as the names of injured individuals and the hospitals where they were treated—to back up the accusations.
Furthermore, they assert that the Toro and Tafawa Balewa local government areas that are experiencing relative peace, and any issues there are unrelated to Senator Buba.
They note that insecurity is prevalent in Plateau State, suggesting that the allegations might be a diversion from this broader problem.
Despite the accusations, Senator Buba’s aides maintain that he will continue to fulfill his duties as the only APC senator in Bauchi State. They are confident that these unfounded claims will not hinder him from his responsibilities.
It should be noted that Senator Shehu Umar Buba is currently embroiled in controversy over alleged ties to bandits, with a dramatic standoff occurring in the Nigerian Senate.
The Plateau Progressive Movement (PPM) is demanding his arrest and prosecution, claiming that he incited violence in Toro and Tafawa Balewa local government areas, resulting in loss of life and fostering fear among residents.
The PPM has called for Senator Buba’s immediate removal from his chairmanship position, arguing that his continued tenure undermines public trust in institutions and emboldens criminal elements.
