The Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) has expressed shock over the recent pipeline explosion in Lagos that killed 15 lives, injured many others and destroyed 50 houses, describing it as a national tragedy.
In a statement issued by the national chairman of IPAC, Leonard Ezenwa, the council said “Our thoughts and prayer are with the families of the deceased and the injured.
“We also commiserate with the Government and people of Lagos State and call for a probe on the incident to prevent a recurrence, bearing in mind that security and welfare of the people are the primary purpose of Government.”
IPAC also commended the gallantry of Rev. Sister Henrietta Alokha, who rescued 300 students trapped in the inferno and lost her life in the process, saying she was an embodiment of leadership and patriotism.
IPAC says the Lagos State Government and its agencies should restrict allocation of lands where critical national assets like pipelines are located and urged it to prosecute defaulters.
