IPMAN faults Kwara faction executive inauguration

The National Ex-officio of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria(IPMAN)Alhaji Kolawole Mustapha has faulted the inauguration of the Western Zone executive of the association by factional members and described it as illegal .

Mustapha,one of the representatives of western zone in the national executive who stated this in an interview with Journalists in Ilorin said the clarification became necessary because of a pending suit in Court by the national executives which states that status quo must retain in all matter of inauguration of executives

until the case is disposed of.

He noted that by the constitutional guidelines of the association which every member is aware of, all status quo must remain since a matter concerning the National Executive is still in court.

The national officer also said that no inauguration of new executive from his zone can take place without his consent and that the rumour of preparation for the illegal inauguration of the executive by some factional members prompted him to report the matter on behalf of the chairman and secretary of Ilorin branch of the association to the office of the state security services in ilorin.

Mustapha said that consequently men of the state security services went to disrupt the inauguration in ADAP hotel along Gaa Akanbi ilorin and even invited one of the members for interrogation before he was released shortly after.

He urged members to remain calm and go about their normal businesses and advised members of the public to ignore members who might want to parade themselves as members of the western zone executives of IPMAN and therefore promote crisis in the association While contacted by Journalists, ,an officer of the State security services in ilorin who craved anonymity in an interview with journalists confirmed the development.

According to him,”There was an official complaint by a national officer who came with others members about a plan to inaugurate a zonal executive in ilorin which could create confusion and cause crisis in IPMAN because of an existing court case. We went to the venue in a private hotel along Gaa Akanbi in Ilorin,and truly met some members of the association there.

“We made enquiries about their mission there and then asked them to leave. We even invited one of them to our office for further interrogation,though we have since released him”.
