Isaac Fayose: My Brother Won’t Accept Tinubu’s REA Board Appointment

Isaac Fayose has dismissed the appointment of his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), insisting the former governor will not accept the position.

Reacting in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Isaac described the appointment as beneath his brother’s political stature, saying Ayo Fayose would rather reject it than serve in such a capacity.
“My brother won’t take the appointment. Be rest assured,” he wrote.

In an earlier video shared on Instagram, Isaac argued that the former governor deserved a more prominent role in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, such as a ministerial or ambassadorial appointment, rather than chairing a federal agency’s board.

He also claimed the appointment may have been influenced by the recent visit of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to his residence, alleging the move was aimed at strengthening ties with the Fayose family.

Isaac further advised his brother to hand over the appointment to one of his children if he had no intention of accepting it.

President Tinubu had on Monday announced the appointment of Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency as part of 26 appointments into the boards of 10 federal government agencies and commissions.

The appointment comes months after Fayose publicly stated that he had no interest in serving in the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government despite maintaining a cordial relationship with President Tinubu.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television in October 2025, Fayose disclosed that he had previously declined an appointment offered by the President.

“At 65, I’d rather stay at home and focus on other things. I’ve served as a two-term governor and believe I’ve done my part,” Fayose had said.

The Presidency, however, announced that his latest appointment takes immediate effect.
