From Mustapha Adamu, Kano
The Kano State Governor, Engineer, Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared that there is no regret for the demolition exercise embarked upon in the state, as his administration has done what is best, in restoring the state Master plan.
Yusuf made this assertion on Friday while receiving the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero on the traditional Hawan Nasarawa durbar at Government House.
He said the Kofar Mata Eid Praying Ground was exclusively reserved by successive administrations in the state for Eid prayers.
He expressed displeasure at what he described as “unpatriotic manner” of allocating the facility for commercial activities by the immediate past administration.
The Governor said he has no regret in demolition of the structures made on the Eid Ground, adding that he will not regret it in future.
He therefore vowed that other public properties allocated to proxies and family members of the immediate administration will also be reclaimed by the government on overriding public interest.
He appealed to the Emir to continue supporting his administration , especially the newly appointed commissioners to enable them succeed in the task of rebuilding the state.
The Governor, who scored his first 2 months in office high, informed the Emir that his administration had inherited many problems after his assumption of office.
He pointed out that over N1.6 billion naira was paid as WAEC and NECO examination fee that enabled the students of the state to write their examination, which according to him, were neglected by the immediate past administration.
