Junior Chamber International (JCI) Aso on Saturday marked its Silver Jubilee with the inauguration of JCIN Amb. Peter Yilbiem Emmanuel as the organisation’s 26th President during its 2025 Convention and Investiture in Abuja.
The ceremony, which drew members, past leaders and partners, showcased the chapter’s 25-year journey in grooming young leaders, driving community impact and promoting collaboration across sectors.
Speaking with journalists after his installation, Emmanuel said the focus of his administration would be to deepen youth leadership development and expand opportunities for young Nigerians to drive positive societal change.
He said the organisation would strengthen partnerships with government, the private sector and civil society, stressing that progress was impossible without collaboration.
“Our commitment is to innovate fearlessly and provide platforms where young people can refine their thinking and apply themselves for national development,” he said.
According to him, JCI Aso’s legacy over the past 25 years spans health outreach, education support, entrepreneurship programmes and skill-building initiatives, which his administration intends to amplify in the coming year.
Outgoing President, JCIN Amb. Felix S. Akinyemi, described the Silver Jubilee as a defining moment, recalling how five founding members established the chapter with a vision to empower young people to influence their communities.
He said the organisation had grown into a “melting pot of innovation and a force for positive change,” noting that its accomplishments came through sacrifice, teamwork and the dedication of members.
As he gave his farewell remarks, Akinyemi praised the planning committee for delivering the anniversary celebration, saying their “sleepless nights and unwavering commitment” made the event possible.
The 2025 Convention Director, Mary Alade, said the occasion was a double celebration: the 25th anniversary and the transfer of leadership to the new president. She described the outgoing administration as exemplary for strengthening unity, member growth and value addition.
She expressed confidence that Emmanuel would build on those achievements, describing him as a man of integrity and hard work.
Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Planning Committee, JCI Sen. Abayomi Oladipupo, also commended the new leader, calling him “a fantastic young man ready to take the lead.”
He said members were confident that Emmanuel would drive impactful projects and elevate the visibility of JCI Aso as it enters its next 25 years.
