There is sharp disagreement between the Nigeria Police Command Jigawa state and the state government over Governor Sule Lamido’s missing ‘official’ car.
While the Police told newsmen yesterday in Dutse Jigawa state capital that a Land cruiser SUV, an official escort of the Jigawa state governor was snatched at gun point by armed robbers.
The Director of Press to the governor, Umar Kyari who spoke to Peoples Daily on phone denied knowledge of the governors missing car, saying that he is surprised by reports reaching him that the governor’s ‘official car’ was missing.
Kyari further clarified that none of the governor’s official car is missing, noting that a car attached to the protocol department was stolen, stating that the stolen car is not in the governor’s convoy.
However, in an interview with our reporter the Jigawa state Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Abdul Jinjiri said armed robbers snatched an SUV Land Cruiser which he said is the official escort vehicle in the governor’s convoy.
He added that the driver of the vehicle is still in detention, being interrogated by the police over the missing SUV, noting that “although he may be granted bail but as I speak to you the driver is being questioned over the missing vehicle of the governor’s convoy”. Jinjiri stated.
