Jigawa partners Unicef to advance exclusive breastfeeding

The Jigawa state government has partner with United Nation Children’s Fund (Unicef) to remove all the blockades and ensure exclusive breastfeeding in the state.
The state Commissioner for health Dr Abba Zakari who was represented by the executive secretary Jigawa state Primary health care agency Dr Kabiru Ibrahim disclosed this while briefing news men on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding to the children.
He explained that, the state government noted that, the inadequate exclusive breastfeeding could affect the children brains and resulted to the production of un-brilliant children that could not contribute anything to the nation development.
According to him, research indicated that only two percent of Jigawa mothers adopted the exclusive breastfeeding while about 98 percent didn’t accept the system.
“As we realise that only 2 percent of Jigawa mothers adopted the exclusive breastfeeding and of course this could affect our future generation and our economy at large” he said.
The Commissioner further stated that, to address this problem, the Jigawa state government partners with United Nation Children’s Fund to remove all the blockades and ensure exclusive breastfeeding is adapted to mothers in the state.
He said, some of the efforts made to address the problems include partners with national and international donor agencies engagement of media practitioners, traditional leaders, midwives and other stakeholders across the state.
Dr Zakari therefore assured of more commitments from the present administration in the state to address the problems for a better future of Jigawa state.
