The 2015 Jigawa state gubernatorial candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Adamu Jumbo, state chairman of the party, Alhaji Abba Anas, at the weekend dumped SDP and defected to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Announcing his defection over the weekend at the home town of former PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Sule Lamido, Jumbo said he is joining PDP again with a purpose to find a solution to hardship that millions of people are suffering under the current leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC).
“Despite that within five years I have defected to almost three different political parties, but still I am not desperate to be governor or to hold any political position with the aim to enrich my self, rather to save my fellow Jigawa masses from unneccessary extreme poverty emanating from APC administration in the state,” he said.
“Though in 2015 I dumped PDP for APC and later in 2019 I left the party and joined SDP and now I realised that SDP has low power to compete with other two major political parties and to elevate my people, I have to join one of the two parties.
“For this reason, I realised that any developmental projects in Jigawa was executed during PDP administration, under the leadership of Alhaji Sule Lamido, between 2007 to 2015”, he said.
He then promised to join hand with all PDP stakeholders and ensure that the ruling party is defeated in the next general election in the state.
While making his remarks shortly after receiving the defectors, Alhaji Sule Lamido said PDP is not owned by anybody rather a party for all Nigerians.
Lamido assured them that the party will treat them equally in any decision making for a better Jigawa state.
