From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse
The Jigawa state Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Accountability Forum (JiMAF), decried exclusion and low quality of food served to some secondary and some selected PHCs in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the acting co-chair of JiMAF, comrade Isah Mustapha and made available to newsmen in Dutse.
According to the statement , JiMAF observed with dismay how patients were barely fed in most secondary and some selected PHCs in the state.
Findings from a spot check and desk review on health facility feedings conducted by member organization known as ELIP-Initiative has observed that, when compared, the number of general hospital and bigger PHCs that supposed to provide feeding to in-patients in their respective facilities were 36 in number, comprising 10 General Hospital, 2 cottage hospitals, 2 specialist hospitals (TBL and Psychiatric) and 22 PHCs.
However, only 24 out of 36 health facilities are providing the feeding to in-patients. The remaining 12 facilities were not providing feeding, as they were excluded by the government.
