Former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Governors elected on the platform of the party have all felicitated with the Governor of Sokoto State, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who attained the age of 56 years yesterday.
Dr. Jonathan described the Governor of Sokoto State and Chairman of PDP Governors Forum as a vibrant and dedicated leader.
In a goodwill message to Tambuwal, the former President noted that the Governor has been purposeful and positive in leadership, having made considerable contributions to the advancement of democracy and national development.
The former President said: “On behalf of my family, I join your family and associates to congratulate you on the occasion of your 56th birthday.
“As a politician, you have been contributing meaningfully to the advancement of our nation’s democracy through national service.
“You have displayed great leadership skills at various times in different capacities both as Speaker of the House of Representatives and Governor of Sokoto State.
“As you celebrate, I wish you sound health, more success and greater honour in life . Happy Birthday, Your Excellency”, he said.
The national leadership of the PDP, while congratulating the Governor of Sokoto State, described him as a very humble, versatile and dynamic leader.
The PDP, in a statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba, called Governor Tambuwal an outstanding nationalist and courageous democrat who over the years, as Speaker of the House of Representatives and now two-term state governor, “continues to play key roles towards the unity, peaceful co-existence and development of our dear nation”.
Continuing, the PDP said, “As the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Governor Tambuwal, with excellent political dexterity, deepened our democratic practice for more transparent and productive governance by reinforcing the principle of separation of powers as well as asserting the independence of the legislature as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
“As Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal continues to display a remarkable commitment towards the wellbeing of his people as evident in his developmental projects in critical sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and urban and rural development among others.
“Moreover, as a leader in our Party and particularly as the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Governor Tambuwal remains committed towards the unity, stability, growth and electoral success of the PDP.
“His dedication towards the success of the reconciliatory efforts in our Party has been pivotal in further repositioning the PDP as the platform for Nigerians to Rescue and Rebuild our nation from misrule.
“The PDP family congratulates Governor Tambuwal on this auspicious occasion and prays to God to grant him many more years in good health for greater service to our dear fatherland and humanity at large”,it said
Similarly, the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP – GF) described Tambuwal as an acclaimed innovative leader.
The PDP-GF, in a statement by its Director-General, Hon. CID Maduabum, joined, “family, friends and the entire PDP family in celebrating the Governor of Sokoto State, an acclaimed innovative leader and Chairman of the Forum, as he turns 56 today (January 10, 2021).
“We thank God for His blessings of good health, wisdom and courage on Governor Tambuwal to speak truth to authorities in power in the last six years.
“The Forum is also happy to celebrate the visionary leadership he has brought to bear on Sokoto and the entire people of the state over this period.
“These past six years have been an opportunity for our Chairman to promote and demonstrate exemplary leadership at national and state levels, particularly in joining forces with other Governors and Leaders of the party to offer alternative ideas and solutions to the failed leadership of President Mohammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“Also worthy of commendation is his role in stabilising and rejuvenating the PDP at the national and sub – national levels.
“The Forum is further enamoured by the transformational and developmental initiatives of Governor Tambuwal in roads and bridges construction that have completely changed the skyline of the state with two state – of – the – art flyover projects.
“In health, as in other sectors of development, Governor Tambuwal has equally been superlative with the gigantic Sokoto University Teaching Hospital, the international standard Diagnostic Centre, Farfaru, now a major referral laboratory centre in the North East of the country, and other secondary and primary healthcare programmes completed across the state.
“We are happy to associate ourselves with the way he has deployed huge resources in abating the challenges of security in the state.
