Jonathan up-lifts N-east zone through power projects -Minister

 The Minister of State Power, Hon Mohammed Wakil has disclosed the commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan to up-lift North East region, which has been plagued by insurgency recently by boosting power supply and infrastructural development, enhancing economic

activities and taming militancy. A statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of State

for Power, Olawale Rasheed, quoted the Minister to have spoken while receiving Power China delegation in his office. wakil said the President approved the Mambilla Project to generate

3050 megawatt because of his conviction that boosting economic life is the surest way to engage youth been lured into militancy. According to him, the Mambilla project was conceived in 1960 but now given a new lease of life by President Goodluck Jonathan as part of his administration’s plan to uplift the North East and ensure that it catches up with other parts of the country. As part of the fall-out from that platform, a strategy for expanding power and other infrastructure development for the region was adopted to boost economic life and gainfully employ our youths. One of the key projects agreed upon at the forum is the Mambilla Project. It is envisaged that the completion of the project will create economic opportunities for the youth”.
