The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Zamfara State council has suspended its boycott of the state government activities which it began on Wednesday 3/7/2019, following harassments meted against members of the chapel by the Government House security outfits.
This decision followed a resolution by the chapel members following pleas and apologies made to the chapel jointly by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the governor and the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on media to the governor to the chapel and assurances that, there will not be any hindrance to members of the chapel while on assignment or carrying out their professional duties.
The governor’s aides who came at the instance of the state Governor, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun, also assured that, identification cards will be issued to the chapel members to have unhindered access to the government house or the governor’s official engagements.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the state council of NUJ, Comrade Abdulrazak Bello Kaura, Secretary, Abubakar Ahmed and chaired by the chapel Chairman, Comrade Umar Muhammad Maradun.
