Journalists suspend boycott of Zamfara govt. activities

University of Ilorin Governing council has approved the appointment of 19 new Professors and 24 new Readers, in a move aimed at rewarding diligence, hard work and erudition.
The recent action is major decisions taken at the 165th Meeting of the Council at a meeting presided over by the Council Chairman, Dr. Abdullah Jibril Oyekan.
Among newly elevated five Professors are Dr. A. A. Annongu, Department of Animal Production; Dr. A. M. Usman, Department of Arabic; Dr. J.O. Ojuade, Department of The Performing Arts; Dr. P. O. Ajiboye, Department of Behavioural Sciences; and Dr. I. S. Abdulraheem, Department of Epidemiology and Community Health – had their appointments backdated to October 1, 2017 while the appointments of two of the new Readers – Dr. R. O. Oladele, Department of Computer Science; and Dr. A. B. Alabi, Department of Physics – were similarly backdated to October 1, 2017. The appointments of the others were to take effect from October 1, 2018.
The other Professors are Dr. R. I. Adebayo, Department of Religions; Dr. M. S. Ajao, Department of Anatomy; Dr. A.A. Popoola, Department of Surgery; Dr. R. G. Jimoh, Department of Computer Science; Dr. A. O. Oniye, Department of Counsellor Education; Dr. Y. A. Fasasi, Department of Educational Management; and Dr. (Mrs.) O. L. Dominic, Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education.
Others are Dr. B. A. Omipidan, Department of Private and Property Law; Dr. (Mrs.) P. F. Omojasola, Department of Microbiology; Dr. R. A. Gbadeyan, Department of Marketing; Dr. M. A. Aremu, Department of Marketing; Dr. W. B. Yahya, Department of Statistics; Dr. A. O. Adejumo, Department of Statistics; and Dr. A. Y. Mohammed, Department of Sociology.
Among those elevated to the Readership position are Dr. A. O. Adeyina, Department of Animal Production; Dr. L. O. Ibrahim, Department of Arabic; Dr. L. E. Odeh, Department of History and International Studies; Dr. J. O. Friday-Otun, Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages; Dr. K. A. Rafiu, Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages; Dr. A. O. Shittu, Department of Haematology; Dr. H. O. Raji, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology; and Dr. A. Tella, Department of Library and Information Science.
Also elevated to Readers are Dr. (Mrs.) P. A. O. Etejere, Department of Educational Management; Dr. O. O. Obielodan, Department of Educational Technology; Dr. T. O. Ibrahim, Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education; Dr. (Mrs.) H. T. Yusuf, Department of Social Sciences Education; Dr. (Mrs.) N. T. Surajudeen-Bakinde, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; and Dr. A. S. Adekunle, Mechanical Engineering.
Others are Dr. J. O. Omoniyi, the University Library; Dr. (Mrs.) K. A. Yahaya, Department of Accounting; Dr. I. B. Kadiri, Department of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management; Dr. (Mrs.) Y. O. Aderinto, Department of Mathematics; Dr. S. L. Tilakasiri, Department of Geography and Environmental Management; Dr. LukmanSaka, Department of Political Science; Dr. I. A. Raufu, Department of Veterinary Microbiology; and Dr. K. T. Biobaku, Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology.
