Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone have endorsed former senator Shehu Sani as their consensus candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The decision was announced Wednesday at a meeting in Malali, Kaduna, attended by commissioners, local government chairpersons, party executives, and key political figures from the zone’s seven local government areas.
Convener Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, the state Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, said the endorsement followed broad consultations among party leaders across the zone.
While noting that the APC primaries remain open to all aspirants, Lagos said stakeholders unanimously settled on Sani for his experience and national profile.
“We have resolved that Shehu Sani is our choice for Kaduna Central,” he said. “He is experienced, tested, and widely recognized as a quality candidate to represent the people of Kaduna in the Senate.”
Lagos added that the move would strengthen APC’s prospects in 2027 and support the party’s goal of securing victories for President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
Other party officials at the event cited Sani’s legislative track record and his ability to attract development projects to the state.
Responding, Sani thanked stakeholders and Governor Uba Sani for their support and pledged to deliver quality representation and tangible projects if elected.
He also called on Kaduna residents to back Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in 2027, stressing unity and equity in governance.
