APC’ll transform Bauchi without obtaining loans, says guber aspirant

Date:

From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) Barrister Muhammed Abubakar, has said that the party has the wherewithal to transform the state without committing the state to unnecessary debts squandered on fanciful projects of no economic and social values.

Speaking to newsmen in Bauchi yesterday, Abubakar said that all it takes was sincerity of purpose and commitment to the ideals of good leadership spiced with courage to excel.

According to him, some of the projects executed by various administrations in the state are of no economic or social value to the people but were executed for mere political reasons and image laundering for deceit.

“We have critically observed some of the projects executed by past administrations and the cost implications. Most of those projects have no direct bearings on the lives of the majority but were executed for political reasons and deceit while the real projects which needed attention were left unattended.

“An APC administration shall change the trend by embarking on meaningful projects to change the economic and social status of the people. Moribund companies shall be resuscitated and reorganized to compete favorably in the global market while brand new micro and agro-allied industries shall be established to reduce unemployment and improve the economic viability of the state.

“Security challenges shall be adequately addressed as poverty shall be tackled aggressively and civil servants given their rightful place in government”, he assured.

The former INEC national commissioner added that he decided to aspire to govern the state not only to transform it but to restore its lost glory as the political hub of northern Nigeria and pearl of tourism.

“Past administrations have failed the test of the people as the state is now rated amongst the poorest and underdeveloped with even younger states exceeding it in development strides. Schools, dispensaries, health centres, access roads, electricity, agricultural inputs, security etc are still lacking in several communities despite the availability of funds. Instead of addressing critical issues, flamboyant projects lacking substance are executed to deceive the people for image laundering”, he said.

The gubernatorial aspirant added that if mandated by his party to fly its flag and get the mandate of the electorates, within his first six months in office, the lost glory of Bauchi state would be restored.
