Kaduna: Commissioner urges women to form cooperative groups

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Agricultural and Rural Development, Hayiya Halima Lawal has urged women and youth to engage themselves into cooperatives and associations in order to benefit from government programmes.
She gave the advice at a formal launching of Kakaki/Albarkawa Alheri Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Zaria City yesterday

said she is behind any women and youth groups who move under an umbrella of a society with the view of assisting themselves in skills acquisition and other developmental programmes to enable them become self-reliant
The commissioner reminded the people that government alone can’t provide jobs for all but with the community engagement in a self-sustainable project such as Kakaki / Albarkawa cooperative depending on government to provide jobs will be reduced even it will be over.
She also adviced women to visit Kaduna Agricultural Development Agency (KADA ) office nearest to them to find out programmes going on for women and youth in agriculture so that they can benefit in that aspect .
In his message, the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris through Sodangin Zazzau, Alhaji Mukhtat Sambo emphasized the importance of skills acquisition for women and youth in the socity and various forms of crimes will be reduced drastically.
Emir Idris encouraged the Alheri Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society not to relent on this giant effort despite the challenges they are facing.
He assured them of his full support whenever the need arises, they shouldn’t hesitate to meet him for his contribution .
Also in his remarks, the Chairman Board of Trustees, Dr. Shehu Saidu expressed appreciation for the efforts put in place by the members of the society in going this far by producing many products by themselves .
Dr. Saidi said the society is in need of support of not even the catchment area, but to the whole Nigeria so that their products can be exported to other nations.
He advised them to provide a shop or office where their contacts can be located easily.
