In an effort to bring an end to power rationing and the intermittent interruptions of power supply currently being experienced in parts of the Kaduna metropolis, the Management of Kaduna Electric has earmarked N350m to upgrade the Millennium City Injection sub-station.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO), Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed, disclosed this yesterday, in Kaduna while taking delivery of a 7.5MVA transformer recently procured for onward installation at Millennium City.
Mohammed explained that the company is embarking on a capital investment to address the issues of load shedding and power rationing affecting over twenty thousand customers in seven communities within and around Millennium City, Kaduna.
“The only 7.5MVA Power Transformer in the Injection sub-station and the existing 11KV line are both grossly overloaded and cannot meet the electricity needs of the customers.
*As such, this multi-million naira project is aimed at addressing these challenges and bringing significant relief to our customers in Kadaure, KK(A and B), Dan Honor, Kadage, Dan Bushiya and Sabon Gida communities, all in Millennium City, Kaduna”, he said.
He added that on completion, the capacity of the Injection sub-station shall be upgraded to 2×7.5MVA with a new additional 11KV line.
According to the COO, “the installation work and construction of the new 11KV feeder shall commence next week and we hope to commission the project in record time”.
He however, appealed to customers in the affected communities to reciprocate the Company’s effort by discharging their obligations diligently.
“I wish to use this medium to call on our customers to be alive to their responsibilities when it comes to bill payment.
“ This is the only way as a company we can discharge our market obligations”, he stressed.
