The Kaduna State Government has refuted claims circulating on social media alleging the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Kakuri and neighbouring communities in Kaduna South Local Government Area, describing the reports as false and misleading.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs,  James Kanyip, clarified that areas mentioned in the rumour, including Kakuri Bus Stop, Kurmin Gwari, Monday Market, Afaka Road, Air Force Junction, and Kakuri GRA,  remain calm, with residents conducting their normal business without disruption.

“The Kaduna State Government wishes to debunk the false message going round the social media platforms on the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Kakuri and its surroundings.

“ These areas remain calm and peaceful with people going about their normal businesses”.

The commissioner described the viral message as the handiwork of mischief-makers seeking to incite unnecessary panic among residents.

He urged members of the public to disregard such information and avoid spreading unverified claims.

“The general public is advised to disregard the rumour being spread by mischief-makers. The Kaduna State Government remains committed to protecting lives and property, and assures citizens that security agencies are fully on ground to ensure adequate safety and promote peaceful coexistence”.

He further encouraged residents to work collaboratively with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities within their communities and relying only on verified channels for information.
