Kaduna Police Command arrests, parades 65 criminals

Kaduna state Police command is in harvest of criminals as a total of number of 65 criminals including armed robbers, fake currency printers and car snatchers.

Parading the suspects at the Command headquarters in Kaduna yesterday, Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu said some of the criminals who were arrested include three suspects who specialize in printing fake Nigerian currencies.

According to CP Umar, on July 30, at about 8 p.m, one Sani Abubakar, 23 year’s old, of Kofar Jatau, Zaria city went to a brothel and had an affair with a lady, after which he gave her counterfeit N1, 500 currency note.

“The lady suspected the money to be fake and raised alarm, which attracted people around to call the police. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that the counterfeit currencies were given to him by one Sabo Umar and this led to his arrest.

“Sabo mentioned one David Kwambe, 37 year’s old, of Flat A, Block 6, of Gaduwa Estate, Abuja and their printer. The said printer was arrested with N60,000 of fake N500 denomination. All the suspects confessed to the crime”.

Similarly, CP Umar said the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives, while on routine patrol along Kaduna-Abuja express way, intercepted an unregistered Peugeot 406, at Kakau village.

“The occupant of the said vehicle on sighting the patrol team opened fire on them and in a fierce gun battle, one of the suspects was

gunned down while others took to their heels and abandoned the vehicle.

“Further investigation to the arrest of one Abdulmumini Musa, who is a member of the gang and upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime,” the CP said.

In the same vein, four notorious armed robbery suspects, namely Ibrahim Suleiman, AbdulRasheed Nura, Shu’aibu Aminu and Ibrahim Sa’adu all of Rigachikun village in Igabi Local government area of Kaduna were arrested for robbing a victim and raping his wife.

“The Command also arrested two armed robbers namely; Peter Ayo and Promise Ibiyemi who attacked and attempted to rob their victims at Kofar Sani street, Goni-gora, Kaduna on July 16, 2014.

The CP thanked members of the public for their cooperation and promised that the command will leave no stone unturned in clearing the state of criminals.
