The Nigeria Police Force has successfully foiled a planned attack and kidnapping of children in Kaduna State, rescuing 76 children and arresting three suspects.
According to CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer, the police received credible intelligence on January 5, 2026, indicating that suspected bandits were planning to target motorists transporting children through the Kasuwan Magani area.
A police team, led by the Divisional Police Officer, engaged the attackers and repelled their efforts, ultimately rescuing the 76 children, aged between 7 and 20 years and were unharmed.
The arrested suspects are Jonathan John (25), Oliver Magaji (27), and Bitrus Sawaba (23), who are currently in police custody.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects intended to exploit the children for child labor and domestic work.
The rescued children are being safely held at the Command Headquarters, awaiting identification and reunification with their parents or guardians.
The police has begun investigations to uncover any additional collaborators and plan to charge the suspects to court upon the conclusion of the inquiry.
CSP Hundeyin reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to assist proactive policing by providing timely and credible information.
