Former governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has expressed total support for the president’s assessment which described former president Olusegun Obasanjo as behaving like a motor park tout.
Orji Kalu made this disclosure yesterday while speaking to newsmen in Minna after paying a visit to former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida at his uphill Manson in Minna, the state capital.
He also predicted that though the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may win the Presidential election in the 2015 general elections, the Party may not form majority of the National Assembly and government in some states.
Just as he supported President Jonathan’s call to some senior statesmen in the country to respect themselves.
He agreed with President Goodluck Jonathan’s utterance that some elder statesmen should watch their utterances, adding that the President was not referring to General Ibrahim Babangida, General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Alhaji Shehu Shagari or Chief Earnest Shonekan.
“I share the same view with President Jonathan that some few senior citizens who should be respecting themselves are not respecting themselves. But those statesmen definitely do not include General Babangida, General Abdulsalami, Chief Shonekan and Alhaji Shagari.”
“PDP is the problem of themselves but we will be able to sort things out. The nation will never be the same, though PDP will form the national government, they will not form the National Assembly.
“It is going to be a problem delivering PDP in some states but President Jonathan must win in Abia and other parts of the country.”
Kalu who said he was in the state to greet the former military leader, said they discussed about the state of the nation, governance, PDP and the progress of the country adding that Babangida is happy that the nation is making progress.
He lamented that the polity is being heated strongly calling on politicians to stop heating the polity.
“The polity is being heated strongly and politicians need to calm down and stop heating the polity of the country. Where people come out openly to abuse themselves is out of fashion. I hope those contesting elections should be patient with Nigeria.”
Expressing concern over the insurgency in the nation, the former governor who is also a businessman lamented that the problem in the north is affecting the business environment in the country adding that everyone should be concerned about the insecurity in the nation.
On the perceived face-off between and his political godson Theodore Orji, Kalu said he does not abuse governors because he was once a governor.
