Kano 2015: I’ll have zero tolerance for corruption in Kano if…- Dan Sarauniya

Date:

From Mustapha Adamu, Kano

A gubernatorial aspirant in Kano State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Mu’azu Magaji Dawakin Tofa, popularly known as Dan Sarauniya, has revealed that he would have zero tolerance for corruption if elected as the state’s governor in 2015.

According to him, Security Vote as an allocation package is a medium of institutionalized corruption, used basically to siphon public funds without any justification, adding that he would ensure that it does not see the light of the day throughout his administration, if elected into the state’s apex office.

The APC chieftain also stated that he would put greater emphasis on physical and human development with allocation of only 25% on recurrent expenditure in the state’s annual budget as being exhibited by Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Dan Sarauniya, who stated this during an interactive session with some selected Civil Society Groups, yesterday in Kano, averred that for any government to thrive in discharging its responsibilities, all windows of corruption must be blocked and accountability mechanisms deployed.

” I would not allow the conventional stream of Security Votes if elected as Governor of Kano State and would continue on the good path founded by Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, which has consistently put greater emphasis on physical and human development with allocation of only 25% on recurrent expenditure in the state’s annual budget” he stated.

He continued, “Governor Kwankwaso has made Kano record a massive leap and it will be very unfortunate for the state to reverse into the culture of unnecessary spending in the name of Security Vote, which allows recklessness in public finance management.”
