Kano state government has called on parents to return their children to schools on time as they resume today (Monday) after a two-week long break to celebrate this year’s Sallah festivities.
The state’s Ministry of Education has slated Monday, May 17 as the day to resume schools in the second most populous state in the country.
In a statement signed by Aliyu Yusuf, spokesman of the ministry on Sunday, the state Commissioner of Education, Muhammad Sanusi Kiru appealed to parents and guardians to ensure that their wards have returned to school on time.
In the statement, the commissioner had threatened disciplinary actions against parents and students that fail to heed to his call.
He stated that all boarding school students are to return to their schools yesterday (Sunday) May 16, while day schools students are to return on Monday May 17.
The commissioner explained that the ministry has made adequate arrangement for school monitoring to ensure compliance.
He stressed that the government would not fold its arms seeing students returning to school at wish, urging them to be law abiding.
The commissioner added that the government is committing much resources to facilitate good learning and teaching environment, “therefore, there is a need for a reciprocating gesture from the parents by ensuring that their wards are going to school as stipulated.”
“Kano state Commissioner of Education, Malam Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id Kiru has appealed to parents/guardians to ensure that their wards have returned to school on time as displinary actions awaits defaulters.
“He pointed out that all boarding school students are to return to their schools Today Sunday 16th May while Day schools students are to return to their schools Tomorrow Monday 17th May 2021 respectively,” the statement reads in parts.
