The Kano State Investment Promotion Agency (Kaninvest & Diaspora) has revealed that it has recently facilitated for the investment into waste management, worth 500 million euro.
Speaking at a press conference in Kano yesterday, the Director General of the agency, Hama Ali Aware disclosed that the investment would be through Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Ms Aware noted that the investment,if actualized, would translate to growth in economy of the state, wealth creation, jobs creation, reduction in health risk exposure, among others.
“Additionally, we recently facilitate for a PPP investment worth over 500 million Euros in waste management which will translate to growth in economy of the state, wealth creation, jobs creation, reduction in health risk exposure and many more”, she said.
She however stated that the upcoming Kano Economic and Diaspora Investment Summit (KEDIS 2021) will boost the revenue of the state, adding that the summit, which is targeted for August this year, would further enhance economic activities and inflow of investment to Kano state.
She said the summit is aimed not only at getting new foreign investment but also to look internally and support existing investment while offering our local investors the ability to invest more in the state.
“We recently launched the CBN turnaround project which will ensure industries that were affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic are given another chance to survive and continue to flourish.
The DG said with the abundance of business entrepreneurs in Kano State, she believes the state “can look internally and encourage our industrialist to seize this opportunity that will be presented at KEDIS 2021 to expand on their respective investments and create new ones.”
“We hope to have a successful Kano Economic and Diaspora Investment Summit with the support of investment stakeholders, government and private partners, Kano diaspora community, foreign bodies, the media and every willing participant. Our objective is to ensure Kano State becomes the prime destination for investment in Nigeria,” she added.
Recall that the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje last Saturday held a dinner with the business community and other major stakeholders in the state as a part of activities lined up for KEDIS 2021.
